By Organic we mean - product that was made with at least 90% Certified Organic ingredients (water not counted). Organic certification is granted only to plant based ingredients (including cotton), therefore clays, minerals, mud, water are not certified and not counted to percentage. Currently we are transitioning to all organic essential oils, though they make very little part of a product, it is very important for us to have ALL ingredients certified organic - this way we support your health, health of our soil, and health of our environment...

Special note about organic fabrics in our products, so that you are aware - conventional cotton covers 2.5% of the world's cultivated land yet uses 16% of the world's insecticides, more than any other single major crop. (see wiki page)

By natural we mean all ingredients are derived from plants, herb extracts, rarely animal products (which are only milk, honey or beeswax) and earth’s soil materials. We try to use the least processed and modified ingredients and prefer the ones that are still in their original state as they occur in Nature. This seal is applicable to ALL of our products but might be missing on some product labels only because of lack of space :).

With "biodegradable" seal Herbolution claims that contents and packaging of the product are safe for landfill, won't leach toxic chemicals into water as plastic does and will easily biodegrade when introduced to friendly bacteria :) in compost bin or commecial compost site. We encourage to reuse glass and metal containers and hope to launch recycling program that we mentioned in Herbolution plans and dreams. By hand-made we mean - product was manually custom-made with individual approach or made in small quantities. This feature has one "disadvantage" for us - we are not able to mass-produce huge amounts of same item with big wastes of energy and garbage. The advantages of this feature are: easy to customize product which is more likely to satisfy customer (a product suits to the customer, not the customer adjusts to a product), everything is always fresh as it is not sitting in stock in huge amounts, manual approach helps to maintain individual control of quality and proper immediate handling of mistakes. We are proud to handcraft our products and will keep this feature throughout whole life of Herbolution.

Made in USA - means product was manufactured in United States with high quality standard and caring attitude, which is so hard to expect from corporately mass-manufactured bath and beauty products. And knowing that most corporations have their goods made in India, China, Mexico, etc; we use word “proudly” because we are one of the businesses that work exclusively in USA without unfair use of cheap labor in developing countries. This is an honor to us. Although we support fair-trade movement, the advantage of produced locally or nationally is a creation more job positions, support of domestic businesses and prevention energy inefficiency of total globalization.

Vegan means no animal products or animal labor had been used to produce the product. We respect members of vegan society and their views. We personally also live close to vegan lifestyle as we follow the “no use of things or ways that cause animal death” view. That’s why no leather, silk, animal flesh, fur, fish, etc, haven’t been present in our life for the last 5 years. The only ingredients that are used in some of our products are beeswax, honey, propolis and milk and they will void "vegan" label.
